Due to COVID19 restrictions we are not currently running any programs however we are still happy to accept referrals for when our groups are up and running again. The Eastern Health 'families where a parent has a mental illness' FaPMI coordinates direct programs for families; some are run in partnership with other organisations. The aim of the programs are to give children age-appropriate information about mental illness. They can meet other children who may be in a similar situation and to learn about healthy coping strategies. These programs compliment the support workers who work with the families.

This new report highlights innovative examples of foster parent recruitment and retention strategies. We hope child welfare agencies across the country will draw on these examples as they work to improve foster parenting and family-based care. The report also offers recommendations for federal and state policymakers to drive better results through improved use of data; aligning federal financing in support of effective foster family recruitment, training and support; promoting measurable outcomes; and encouraging better partnerships between families and agencies.
